Overview:
Interns will work in the interpretation and visitor services division at Pipe Spring National Monument. Significant training will be provided
Position Responsibilities:
Researching, writing, and presenting different types of interpretive programs for the general public, including tours of the historic fort and demonstrations. Care for livestock and historic garden. Answering visitor questions while staffing an information desk at the park Visitor Center, collecting park entrance fees and issuing backcountry permits. Gaining an in-depth knowledge of the park’s geology, history, plants, and wildlife. Assist with planning special events and festivals Assisting with non-personal interpretive media such as Facebook postings, signs, brochures, and displays.
Qualifications:
Good communication and interpersonal skills. Experience speaking to and working with diverse audiences of all ages. Knowledge of and ability to use multiple teaching techniques. Applicants who possess these skills and who are pursuing a degree in fields related to history, education, geosciences, biological sciences, archeology, or outdoor recreation will be given the greatest consideration.
